How about Dustin May? Cardinals primary free-agent splash pitched another gem Tuesday (St Louis Cardinals)

How about Dustin May?

The former heralded pitching prospect cruised through another solid Grapefruit League start for the Cardinals on Tuesday afternoon, pitching 5.0 innings while allowing only one run against the Washington Nationals. He was replaced for the sixth inning by another recent acquisition, George Soriano.

May struck out three batters while walking just one and scattering four hits across the five innings of work. Following the outing, his ERA for the spring sits at a miniscule 1.54 and has come as May has showcased velocity and (hopefully) renewed health after dealing with myriad injuries in his career with the Dodgers and Red Sox.

Could Dustin May end up as a savvy steal by Chaim Bloom and the St. Louis Cardinals in free agency? His one-year salary at $12.5 million could look like a pittance if May can translate this spring success into the regular season as one of the mainstays in the St. Louis pitching rotation.
