Ice Cold Blues Return Home

The St. Louis Blues return home in desperate need of a win when they face off against the Detroit Red Wings tonight at Enterprise Center.

The Blues take the ice tonight in last place in the Central Division, and every team in the NHL has more points than them except for the Sharks and Flames.

Goals Against Blues Keep Coming

The Blues have typically had one of the top goaltending tandems in the league in recent years, but the goaltending and defense continue to be a problem so far this season. The Blues’ netminders rank dead last in the NHL so far with a collective .844 save percentage.

Coming off last night’s 6-3 loss to the Penguins, this is not a great spot to back the Blues either. They went 4-4-2 in the second game of back-to-back’s last season.

Rested Red Wings

While the Blues were losing last night in Pittsburgh, the Red Wings have been resting since storming back to beat the Blues 6-4 this past Saturday in Detroit.

The Wings are off to a great start this season at 6-3-0, but most of their damage has been done at home. They have dropped each of their last two road games, 4-2 at Buffalo and 7-2 at the New York Islanders.

My Pick

This is a bad situational spot for the Blues playing their third game in four nights against a rested opponent.

But I still think this is a good hockey team that is going to snap out of it sooner than later, so I have more confidence in betting on goals tonight rather than fading the Blues.

Just like last night’s winning ticket in Pittsburgh, this game has the makings for an over. We just saw these teams combine for 10 goals a few nights ago in Detroit, which has contributed to the over going 6-3 so far this season in Blues games.

And the Red Wings haven’t been in great defensive form lately either, as they’ve allowed 15 goals over their last three games.

It’s possible Jordan Binnington puts on a clinic at any moment, but until that time comes, I’m comfortable banking on goals in Blues games.

Pick: Over 6.5 at +114 on DraftKings (bet to +100)
