CITY Meets Minnesota Again

St. Louis CITY SC and Minnesota United will meet for the third time this season when the two clubs square off Saturday night at Energizer Park.

CITY got crushed in the first matchup 3-0 back in May, and then they lost again a few days later 3-2 in the Round of 16 of the U.S. Open Cup.

CITY Goes For Second Straight Home Win

CITY is looking to bounce back from another 3-0 defeat, this time at the hands of FC Dallas last Saturday. It marked the 14th consecutive game where CITY failed to keep a clean sheet. They are conceding an average of 2.28 goals per game during that stretch.

One positive for CITY is they are coming off a win in their last outing at home. They had one of their most complete performances of the season in a 2-1 win over the Portland Timbers on July 13th.

Minnesota Contending In The West

Minnesota heads into the weekend in third place in the Western Conference. Only four teams in MLS have a better goal differential than their +13.

Minnesota does come to St. Louis having gone winless in their last two games. They suffered a 1-0 defeat against LAFC on July 16th, followed by a 1-1 draw at Portland last Saturday.

My Pick

I made the mistake of going big fading CITY in their last home game, and I paid the price.

So this is just a standard-sized play for me, but I cannot pass up taking Minnesota in the draw no bet market at -125. That means CITY has to win the game in order for this bet to lose, as a draw would mean a push.

I’m not overthinking this. CITY only has four wins in 23 games this season, and Minnesota has only lost five times in their 24 games. Maybe this bet will push, but I’d be very surprised if it loses.

Pick: Minnesota United draw no bet at -125 on DraftKings (bet to -130)
