Cards Look To Build Off Win

The St. Louis Cardinals continue their series tonight in Chicago against the White Sox looking to build off yesterday's impressive performance.

The Redbirds smoked the Sox 12-2 last night, ending a run of seven losses in eight games.

Gray Ready To Rebound

The Cards turn to Sonny Gray tonight. The right-hander is coming off one of his worst starts of the season, giving up 6 runs on 8 hits in 4.1 innings in a loss at Milwaukee last Thursday.

Gray has shown a great ability to bounce back from rough outings this season. He has allowed 4 or more earned runs four times this year. In the start immediately after his three previous rough outings, Gray has posted a perfect 3-0 record while permitting just 1 run on 8 hits and 2 walks with 22 strikeouts covering 18 innings.

Sox Are Slumping

The White Sox come into tonight’s action having dropped six in a row. It’s their fourth losing streak of at least five games this season.

Sean Burke will be on the bump tonight for Chicago. The right-hander had a run of three straight quality starts come to a crashing halt in his last outing at Houston. The Astros roughed up Burke for 7 runs and 8 hits in 3.2 innings.

My Pick

Just like you don’t want to mess with a winning streak, you don’t want to mess with a losing streak. The White Sox are a bad team, and I think we need to find a way to fade them until they win a game. Plus I think the Cardinals sense this series is their opportunity to get right after a tough week last week.

I don’t want to lay -178 on the moneyline for the Cards to win, so I want to find a player prop to bring that price down.

I expect Gray to dominate tonight. As outlined above, he has been lights-out in rebounding from bad starts. So I’m going to take the Cardinals to win and tack on Gray to strike out at least 5 batters. The White Sox are a top 10 team in MLB in striking out, and Gray is averaging over a K per inning this season.

Pick: Same Game Parlay priced at -120 on DraftKings - Cardinals on the moneyline AND Sonny Gray to have 5+ strikeouts (bet to -125)
