Champs Come To Town

The two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers are in town tonight to take on the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center.

The Blues played one of their best games of this season in the previous meeting with Florida, winning on the road 6-2 back on December 20th.

Blues Try To End Slide

The losing streak is now up to five for the Blues after yet another tough late defeat to Dallas, 4-3 a couple nights ago. It was their third straight loss coming by a one-goal margin.

Much has been made about the Blues ranking last in the NHL with 2.43 goals per game, but the defensive woes have reared their ugly head lately too. The Blues have dropped 8 of their last 10 and are giving up 3.7 goals per game during that stretch.

Panthers Getting On Track

Florida has been looking at an uphill climb most of the season after a slow start. The Panthers are currently on the outside looking in for the playoffs, as they sit 6 points behind Boston for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Florida is rounding into form though. Since December 6th, the Panthers have a strong record of 16-9-1.

My Lean

If you’re going to bet this one, I’d want to back the champs. They’re coming off a loss in their last game, and dropping back-to-back games has not been a frequent occurrence for the Panthers of late. It has only happened once during this good run of play that started on December 6th.

The Blues are beat up and limping towards the Olympic break with four games remaining. Maybe they’ll pull out a win, but I have no interest in putting my money on this team and trying to guess the random game where they play well.

It’s a high moneyline price on Florida, so I’d be more interested in the Panthers to win in regulation at even money +100.

Lean: Panthers on the 60 Min Line at +100 on DraftKings
