Tigers Hit The Road
The Missouri Tigers take a step up in competition tonight when they head to South Bend to meet the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the ACC/SEC Challenge.
The Tigers are 8-0 after sweeping a seven-game homestand, but this is the first time this season that they’re an underdog.
Can Mizzou Pass This Test?
The Tigers have been untested this season. They blew out a decent opponent in Minnesota, but overall, Mizzou’s schedule strength so far ranks 364th out of 365 Division One teams.
The Tigers have excelled against ACC competition under head coach Dennis Gates, defeating Pittsburgh in 2023 and California in 2024.
Irish Have Definitely Been Tested
While Missouri’s schedule has been filled with cupcakes, Notre Dame has faced plenty of tests so far. The Irish have gone up against ranked teams in Houston and Kansas along with a pair of Big Ten foes in Ohio State and Rutgers. Notre Dame went 1-3 in those games.
Notre Dame is 4-0 at home this season, albeit with all of those games against mid-to-low major competition.
My Lean
Missouri opened as a 1.5 point favorite, but that has since flipped to Notre Dame now being the 1.5 point favorite.
I agree with the movement. Mizzou has been impressive this season, but going on the road to face an ACC team that is plenty battle-tested is a tall order.
I don’t have great confidence in this play and won’t be betting it personally, but if forced to make a pick, I think Notre Dame is the right side. I want Missouri to show me proof that they can take their show on the road against a quality opponent and take care of business before I can throw my money on them in this situation.
