Blues Head To Canada
The St. Louis Blues begin a five-game road trip tonight in Toronto against the Maple Leafs.
The Blues are 3-4-0 on the road this season, while the Leafs are 7-4-2 at home.
Blues Coming Off Bad Loss
The Blues will be looking for a much better effort tonight after falling flat in a 4-1 loss to Vegas this past Saturday.
They are tied for the second-fewest points in the NHL with 18, and they rank dead last defensively in the league with the most goals allowed per game (3.84).
Leafs On A Losing Streak
The team with the second-most goals allowed per game in the NHL? It’s Toronto at 3.79.
The Leafs are in a bad place right now on a five-game losing streak and dealing with injuries including to their star forward Auston Matthews. The Blues took both meetings with the Leafs last season, 5-1 in Toronto and 4-2 in St. Louis.
My Pick
The over is an automatic bet for me tonight with these teams allowing the most goals per game in the NHL. Plus, Toronto games have been an absolute cash cow this season with the over going 16-3. The Leafs had a run of 13 consecutive overs finally come to an end last time out against the Blackhawks.
The Blues have been profitable to the over as well this season with the over going 11-8. Each of the last three meetings with these teams and eight of the last nine have gone over 5.5, and that’s the total available to us tonight.
I think this total should be at least 6, so I’ll gladly take the 5.5 even with some juice.
Pick: Over 5.5 at -135 on DraftKings (would not lay higher odds than that on 5.5)
