Cards Go For Two Straight Wins

The St. Louis Cardinals look to clinch a much-needed series win when they face the Miami Marlins in the second of a three-game set tonight.

The Redbirds snapped a five-game losing streak with last night’s 8-3 victory, while the Marlins have now dropped 11 of their last 15.

McGreevy Looks To Keep Rolling

Michael McGreevy is settling into his spot in the starting rotation, and he’ll take the ball tonight for the Cardinals. The right-hander has gone 6 innings in each of his last three outings with a solid 3.50 ERA during that stretch.

The Cards should be feeling good vibes today coming off last night’s win, and they are 10-3 in McGreevy’s career in games where he pitches.

Cabrera Breaking Out In 2025

Tonight’s Marlins starter Edward Cabrera is looking to rebound from one of his worst outings of the year. The right-hander tied a season-high by allowing 5 runs in 5.1 innings in a loss at Cleveland in his last start.

I like Cabrera’s chances for a bounceback tonight, as he has been one of the breakout pitchers in MLB this season. Since the start of May, Cabrera has posted a 2.57 ERA in 17 starts. He also shut down the Redbirds for just 1 earned run in 6 innings last time he faced them on July 28th.

My Lean

This is not a popular take, but I don’t think McGreevy is going to be the rotation savior that many Cardinals fans are hoping/expecting him to be. While he does a great job limiting walks, notching only 28 strikeouts in 51 innings is not a good recipe for success long-term. He also averaged under a strikeout per inning in his minor league career, so I don’t foresee him suddenly turning into a swing-and-miss pitcher at the big league level.

I’m also very bullish on Cabrera pitching well tonight because he hasn’t had back-to-back poor starts all season long.

This is just a lean for me and not a bet because I could see McGreevy staying on his solid run and shutting down a struggling Marlins team, but if forced to make a pick, I’d take Miami to be ahead after the first five innings.

Lean: Marlins -0.5 in the first five innings at -115 on DraftKings
