Playoff Preview In DC
It’s a playoff preview tonight in our nation’s capital as the St. Louis Battlehawks meet the DC Defenders in the regular season finale for both teams.
These two teams will square off in the XFL Conference Championship game next Sunday, June 8th at The Dome at America’s Center no matter what happens in tonight’s matchup.
Battlehawks Go For Six Straight
The Battlehawks’ winning streak is now up to five games after last week’s 39-13 rout of the San Antonio Brahmas.
The Battlehawks seem to be peaking on both sides of the ball late in the season, as they have now allowed the fewest points and scored the second-most points in the UFL. The Battlehawks are currently the betting favorite to win the league championship at +205 on DraftKings.
Defenders Look For Sweep Of Battlehawks
DC is coming off a 24-21 loss last week at Houston. Lack of motivation may have been a factor, as the Defenders already had their playoff fate decided heading into the game.
The Defenders defeated the Battlehawks 27-15 in the previous meeting this season back on April 13th in St. Louis.
My Lean
I would not endorse betting on this game with the result being meaningless to these teams. We don’t know for sure who is going to play and for how long, and perhaps more importantly, I don’t think these coaches want to show each other much with their playoff matchup just nine days away.
If forced to make a bet, I would go with the under. I think the Battlehawks and Defenders will play things close to the vest, meaning we get a low-scoring game in what may turn out to be a glorified scrimmage.
