The St. Louis Cardinals (30-24) fell 5-2 to the Baltimore Orioles (19-34) on Monday night in the opener of a three-game set at Camden Yards. Former Cardinal Dylan Carlson delivered the decisive blow, launching a three-run homer in the fourth inning that proved to be the difference.

Baltimore struck first after Jackson Holliday, son of former Cardinal Matt Holliday, led off with a single. He moved to second on a fielder’s choice, advanced to third on a Nolan Gorman throwing error and scored on Gunnar Henderson’s RBI fielder’s choice.
3rd Inning
Dylan Carlson singled, stole second and came home on Holliday’s RBI single to make it 2-0 Orioles.
4th Inning
After a Ryan O’Hearn single and a fielder’s choice, Carlson crushed a three-run homer to center field, extending Baltimore’s lead to 5-0.
5th Inning
The Cardinals finally broke through when Gorman singled and Pedro Pagés followed with a two-run homer into the left field corner, trimming the deficit to 5-2.
