Battlehawks, Brahmas Duel At The Dome
The St. Louis Battlehawks square off with the San Antonio Brahmas tonight at The Dome at America’s Center.
The Battlehawks won the previous meeting this season 26-9 back on April 6th.
Battlehawks Are Playoff-Bound
The Battlehawks have won four in a row to move to 6-2 on the season, including last week’s thrilling 29-28 victory over Birmingham.
The Battlehawks have already clinched a spot in the XFL Conference Championship game on June 8th against the DC Defenders. That matchup will take place at The Dome no matter what happens in the final two regular season games.
Lost Season For Brahmas
Despite defeating the Battlehawks in the playoffs last season and reaching the UFL Championship game, the Brahmas have taken a large step back this year with a record of 1-7.
San Antonio has scored the fewest points and allowed the most points in the league.
My Lean
This is a tough game to call because the Battlehawks have nothing to play for as a team these last two games. I’m sure they want to play well and stay sharp, but they want to stay healthy more than anything.
We actually had a very similar scenario with the Battlehawks last season where they had clinched a playoff spot with two games to go. They played a 1-7 team in their second-to-last game (just like tonight), and they got beat 36-22. That game was in Arlington though, while tonight’s game is in St. Louis.
I won’t be betting this one because we don’t know the Battlehawks’ motivation, but if you’re looking for some action, I actually think the over is the best play. If that game last year was any indication with 58 total points scored, the Battlehawks may not be quite as sharp defensively with nothing on the line.
