Cardinals’ Road Woes Continue

The St. Louis Cardinals look for just their third road win of the season when they take on the Reds tonight in Cincinnati.

The Cards fell to 2-12 away from home with last night’s 3-1 loss at Cincinnati. It also marked the tenth time in thirteen games overall that the Redbirds have failed to score more than 4 runs.

Mikolas On The Mound

The Cardinals give the ball to Miles Mikolas, who is coming off his best start of the season. The veteran right-hander pitched 6 innings of shutout ball last week at Atlanta with 6 hits allowed, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts.

Mikolas has struggled in Cincinnati in his career, as he has a 5.91 ERA in 8 starts at Great American Ball Park.

Singer Sizzling For Reds

Brady Singer makes the start for the Reds. The right-hander has been very good in his first month in a Cincinnati uniform, as he has allowed 3 earned runs or fewer in each of his first five outings.

The Reds have provided Singer with plenty of run support as well with an average of 8.4 runs scored in his five starts.

My Pick

Mikolas got great results in his last start at Atlanta, but I’m not buying it. The situational spot was ripe for an under with it being a weekday afternoon getaway day for both teams. Mikolas also registered only 3 swings-and-misses on his 89 pitches, which was the fourth time in five starts he has gotten 4 or fewer swings-and-misses. That’s going to lead to some blowup starts moving forward.

My pick for tonight is a Same Game Parlay with the first leg being the Reds to score over 3.5 runs. The Cardinals’ opponents have scored at least 4 runs in all five of Mikolas’ starts this season - and all of those games have been losses for the Redbirds.

The second leg is for Mikolas to walk at least one batter. He has issued at least one base on balls in all five of his starts, and the Reds are in the top-third of MLB in drawing walks.

Put these two legs together for a solid -120 price.

Pick: Same Game Parlay priced at -120 on DraftKings - Reds over 3.5 runs scored AND Miles Mikolas 1+ walks allowed (bet to -130)
