CITY Heads To Cali
St. Louis CITY SC looks to snap a five-game winless streak when they play at LAFC on Sunday night.
CITY has four losses and one draw during this stretch, including last week’s 0-0 draw with Vancouver. It was the sixth time CITY has been shut out in their nine games this season.
CITY Horrible History vs LAFC
It hasn’t been a pretty history for CITY against LAFC. They are winless in four meetings (three losses and one draw) without having scored a single goal.
The good news for CITY this season has undoubtedly been their defense, as they have conceded just six times. No team in MLS has given up fewer goals here in 2025.
LAFC Not Dominant In 2025
LAFC has been one of the top teams in the league over the last few years, but it has been an uneven start to the season with four wins, four losses, and a draw in their nine MLS games.
LAFC is coming off a high-scoring 3-3 draw at Portland last week, but they have seen their fair share of low-scoring games this season… which leads me to my pick.
My Pick
I’ve bet each of CITY’s last four games correctly, but I went back-and-forth this week struggling to decide how to attack this game.
That indecision is coming from the fact that CITY was extremely close to breaking through in their last two games against two of the best teams in the league in Columbus and Vancouver. Those games could have very easily been a 2-2 draw and 1-0 win if not for two extremely unfortunate offsides calls.
But ultimately, I have landed on under 2.5 goals for my pick for this game against LAFC.
There is obviously a very good chance that CITY doesn’t score considering their form this season and their futile history against this opponent. LAFC has also been very strong defensively at home this season. They’ve played seven home games across all competitions, and they’ve given up a grand total of two goals in those seven games.
If CITY doesn’t score, LAFC would have to score three times for me to lose this under - and CITY hasn’t given up three goals to anyone all year.
I think CITY could score once, but I’d be stunned if they score twice. I’m also not convinced LAFC is going to score twice. CITY has been incredible defensively this season, and LAFC has scored only nine goals over their seven home games.
In LAFC’s seven home games this season, there has been an average of just 1.57 goals per game. That’s enough data for me to take the under 2.5 here at plus money.
Pick: Under 2.5 at +105 on DraftKings (bet to +100)
