Billikens Look To Continue Winning Ways

The Saint Louis University Billikens look to extend their winning streak to 16 games when they travel to face the Davidson Wildcats tonight.

SLU is approaching the school’s longest winning streak since the 2013-14 team won 19 in a row.

SLU On Fire

The Billikens are coming off arguably their most impressive performance of the season in a 102-71 demolition of rival Dayton this past Friday night. The blowout victory helped bring SLU up to #19 in the latest AP poll that was released yesterday.

One key factor to tonight’s game is the status of Robbie Avila. As of the time of this writing the morning of the game, it is unknown whether he will play as he fights through an illness that has gone through the team in recent weeks.

Davidson Can Shoot

Davidson is 5-4 in the Atlantic 10 after routing Richmond on the road 79-54 last time out. It continued an odd trend for the Wildcats, as they are 4-1 on the road in league play while just 1-3 at home.

Davidson is a dangerous 3-point shooting team, ranking 34th in the country at 37.0%. The Wildcats have also been strong defensively in A10 play, as they are 2nd in the league in scoring defense in conference games (67.8 points per game)

My Pick

This is a tricky game for the Billikens coming off an A+ performance last time out against Dayton. It’s just hard to stack games like that together back-to-back.

I would argue SLU has played two other A+ games in A10 play - an 88-63 win over Richmond and a 97-62 victory at St. Bonaventure. In each instance, they followed up those games with a close call in surviving by 4 at Duquesne and rallying past George Washington by 3.

I think we’re in for another tight one tonight against a Wildcats team that can light it up from deep. I expect SLU to grind out a win, but I think Davidson will do enough to stay inside the number - and I’d like it even more if Avila is ruled out.

Pick: Davidson +8.5 at -110 on DraftKings (bet to +8)
