Mizzou Looks To Build Off Dramatic Win

The Missouri Tigers hope to maintain their momentum when they head on the road to face the #23 Alabama Crimson Tide this evening.

Mizzou is coming off a dramatic 88-87 overtime win over Oklahoma on Saturday that featured a Trent Pierce buzzer-beating 3 to force OT and another from Mark Mitchell at the end of overtime to turn a loss into an improbable win.

Tigers Love The Drama

Close games have been a hallmark for Missouri in SEC play. All seven of the Tigers’ league matchups have been decided by single digits, with all of those games having a margin of four points or less in the final two minutes.

A bugaboo for the Tigers this season has been turnovers, as they rank 260th in the country in turnover percentage. However, Alabama is not equipped to exploit that weakness. The Crimson Tide rank 351st out of 365 Division One teams in defensive turnover rate.

Tide Look For Bounceback

Alabama is a good team but not as elite as in recent years. The Tide have dropped three of their last five games, most recently a 79-73 home loss to Tennessee this past Saturday.

Alabama takes a ton of 3’s with over half of the Tide’s field goal attempts coming from behind the arc. The problem is they are not making them at a high rate this season. Alabama ranks 144th in the country at 34.6% from 3-point range.

My Lean

We’ve seen each and every Mizzou game come down to the wire in SEC play, so I think this is too many points here. This year’s version of Alabama has not done enough to warrant being a double-digit favorite in my opinion.

Since Pierce and Jayden Stone returned to the lineup from injuries to start conference play, Missouri has performed well when stepping up in class by beating Florida and winning on the road at Kentucky. I’m not confident the Tigers pull the upset, but I think they do enough to stay inside the number.
