The Missouri Tigers will try to defeat a ranked team tonight when the #21 Georgia Bulldogs come to Columbia.
Mizzou is 1-2 against ranked teams this season with losses to Kansas and Illinois and a victory over Florida.
Mizzou Unbeaten At Home
The Tigers have a pair of disappointing SEC defeats in losing winnable road games at Mississippi and LSU, but they now return home to Mizzou Arena where they have been lethal this season.
The Tigers are undefeated at home at 11-0 with notable victories against Minnesota, Florida, and Auburn. They are 29-2 at Mizzou Arena over the last two seasons, ranking second in the nation in home wins during that time.
Georgia Dangerous Offensively
Georgia heads into tonight’s action boasting the top scoring offense in the country. The Bulldogs are #1 in the nation averaging 96.0 points per game due in large part to them playing with the country’s second-fastest tempo according to KenPom.
Georgia has only suffered three defeats all season, with two of them coming in overtime and the third being an away trip to Florida.
My Pick
The Tigers have been a frustrating team this season, but my gut tells me they turn up tonight much like they did against Auburn after an annoying road loss.
Georgia’s strength is scoring inside, but Missouri excels at interior defense with a top 30 national ranking in two-point field goal percentage defense.
And I don’t think the Bulldogs can hit enough 3’s if they try to beat Mizzou from deep. Georgia ranks 250th out of 365 Division One teams hitting just 32.2% from long range.
Look for the Tigers to protect their home floor once again tonight.
