Can Mizzou Go 3-0 In SEC?
The Missouri Tigers look to stay undefeated in SEC play when they travel to face the Ole Miss Rebels today.
The Tigers are 2-0 in the SEC for the first time since joining the conference. They haven’t started 3-0 in league play since the 2000-2001 season in the Big 12.
Tigers Beating Good Competition
Now with a healthy roster, Missouri is brimming with confidence after beating the defending national champion Florida Gators and winning for the first time ever at Rupp Arena over the Kentucky Wildcats. Florida and Kentucky were the top two teams in the SEC preseason poll.
Not only are the Tigers trying for their first 3-0 start in league play in 25 years, but they are also attempting to win their first two conference road games. They haven’t done that since the 1998-1999 campaign.
Desperate Rebels
Ole Miss is going to be desperate today after starting 0-2 in the SEC, most recently a 94-87 home loss to Arkansas this past Wednesday
The Rebels have dropped 7 of their last 10 games, although all of those losses have come against teams from the Power 5 conferences.
My Lean
This game should have Missouri fans nervous. Expect Ole Miss to bring its best effort on its home floor today hoping to avoid an 0-3 start in the SEC.
But if forced to make a bet on this game, I would still lean with Mizzou. I’m not worried about a letdown factor with the Tigers because they know they have plenty of work to do in SEC play after their lackluster non-conference performance. Maybe the Tigers will get beat today, but I think they’ll be ready to play.
While the Rebels are going to be desperate today and they have played a tough schedule, they haven’t beaten anyone. They are 0-7 in games against Power 5 teams.
Lean: Missouri on the moneyline at -105 on DraftKings
