Blues Return From Christmas Break
The St. Louis Blues resume their season on Saturday night at home against the Nashville Predators.
The NHL has been on a brief hiatus since Tuesday for the Christmas break. The Blues enter Saturday’s action tied in points with the Predators, although Nashville has 2 games in hand.
Blues Look For Improved Home Play
The Blues have won just 7 of their 20 home games this season, posting a record of 7-8-5 at Enterprise Center.
The 5 overtime losses at home have been a theme this season. The Blues are 0-8 overall when a game heads to OT, which makes betting the other side attractive when a line is a near 50/50 coin flip like it is in this game against Nashville with overtime a very real possibility.
Predators Have Found Their Groove
The Predators were languishing in the cellar of the Central Division for a good chunk of this season, but they have turned things around over the last month. Nashville has won three in a row and has gone an impressive 10-4-0 since November 26th.
The Predators’ resurgence has included two victories over the Blues this month - 7-2 in Nashville on December 11th and 5-2 in St. Louis on December 15th.
My Lean
I would recommend treading lightly on this game, as it’s tough to predict how teams are going to play coming off the Christmas break.
If forced to make a pick on this game, I think the value lies with Nashville as a small underdog. The Predators are the better team right now and they’ve beaten the Blues twice this month. Plus as mentioned above, if this game goes to overtime as is very possible in a coin flip game, I wouldn’t want to be holding a ticket on the Blues with their overtime woes.
Lean: Predators on the moneyline at -105 on DraftKings
