Blues Go For Two Straight
The St. Louis Blues look to make it two wins in row when they take on the Washington Capitals tonight in D.C.
The Blues finally snapped their seven-game losing streak with Monday’s 3-2 victory over Edmonton. They have plenty of work to do though to climb up the standings, as they sit in second-to-last place in the Western Conference.
Blues Meet A Comfortable Opponent
The Blues are facing an opponent tonight that they’ve had a lot of success against in recent years, as they are 8-2-1 in their last 11 meetings with the Capitals.
Jordan Binnington is expected to make the start in between the pipes this evening. In a welcome sight, the Blues had a good defensive performance last time out with Binnington stopping 24 of 26 shots in the win over the Oilers. He hopes to have a repeat performance tonight as he gets set to tie Mike Luit’s franchise record for most games played by a goaltender.
Goals Not Coming In Caps’ Games
Goals have been hard to come by in Washington games this season. The Capitals are second-to-last in the league with 31 goals scored; however, the Caps have allowed the fewest goals in the NHL with 28.
Washington goaltender Logan Thompson has been fantastic to start the season. He leads the NHL with a 1.51 GAA and a .935 save percentage.
My Lean
The end of the losing streak had been coming for the Blues, as they had been playing well the past couple games before breaking through against the Oilers.
Now they come up against a Washington team that is having its own struggles right now, as the Capitals have dropped four straight games while scoring just five total goals in the process.
I think this line should be set closer to a coin flip or perhaps Washington just a slight favorite. The Capitals are priced too big here, so if you’re going to bet this one, I think the value play is to take the Blues to make it two straight victories.
Lean: Blues on the moneyline at +124 on DraftKings
