Blues Hit The Road

After a disappointing homestand, the St. Louis Blues are in Detroit to take on the Red Wings tonight.

This is the first of two meetings with these teams in the span of four days, as they’ll face each other again this coming Tuesday at Enterprise Center.

Blues Hope To End Slump

The Blues are coming off a 1-2-1 homestand, including two losses where they gave up a combined 15 goals. Overall this season, they rank third-worst in the NHL with 3.86 goals allowed per game.

The Blues may be welcoming a chance to go on a road trip, as they are a perfect 2-0 away from home on the young season.

Wings Off To Good Start

The Red Wings are off to a good start this season with a 5-3-0 record, but they are coming off two road losses in their last two games. Just like the Blues, the Wings got pummeled for 7 goals their last time out in a 7-2 defeat at the Islanders.

A key player to watch for Detroit is their captain Dylan Larkin. The veteran center has an 8-game point streak to start the season and has racked up 6 goals and 7 assists. Larkin’s 13 points rank 3rd in the NHL.

My Lean

I am actually expecting a low-scoring game this evening, as the Blues have shown the ability to lock in defensively after poor games. After getting embarrassed 5-0 in their season opener, they rebounded by allowing just 2 goals in their next game at Calgary. And after getting walloped by Chicago 8-3 last week, the Blues bounced back with their best defensive performance of the season in a 3-1 win over the Stars.

I also trust the Red Wings to have a bounceback effort defensively, as they have given up just 2.4 goals per game in their 5 home games this season.

I don’t love the number of 5.5 and am hoping to see it rise to 6 before puck drop, but if you’re going to bet this one, I think the under is the way to go.

Lean: Under 5.5 at +105 on DraftKings
