Blues Close Road Trip
The St. Louis Blues wrap up their brief Canadian road trip tonight in Vancouver against the Canucks.
The Blues picked up their first win of the season on Saturday in Calgary, as they beat the Flames for the seventh consecutive meeting.
Blues Own Canucks Lately
The Blues have owned the Flames in recent years, and it’s a pretty similar story with the Canucks. The Blues took two of the three matchups last season, including their only visit to Vancouver. They are also 9-2-1 in the last 12 meetings.
However, these games tend to be close. Six of the last eight meetings with the Blues and Canucks have been decided by one goal, with five of the games going to overtime. They have also been high-scoring of late with the last four matchups going over the total.
Canucks Looking To Rebound
The Canucks split their first two games of the season, beating the Flames 5-1 at home before falling on the road to the Oilers 3-1.
The Canucks are one of five teams in the NHL who have yet to score a power play goal this season, as they have failed to convert on six opportunities with the man advantage. Conversely, they have been perfect on the penalty kill at 9-for-9, as they are one of six teams in the league with a 100% penalty kill rate.
My Lean
If you’ve been reading these gambling preview articles for a while, you know I’m not a homer. But I’m going to lean with the Blues for the third straight time to start the season.
The Blues found their game about midway through in Calgary on Saturday, and I think they can continue that tonight against an opponent they have thrived against in recent years.
It appears the sharp money agrees with me. As of the time of this writing, the Blues are getting only 27% of the bets but 67% of the money.
This is a game that very well may matter come April, as the Blues’ season point total is currently set at 91.5 on DraftKings while the Canucks’ number is listed at 90.5. I expect these two teams to be contending for the playoffs, so hopefully the Blues get a leg up tonight.
Lean: Blues on the moneyline at +102 on DraftKings
