Stewart Cink Leads After Opening Round at 2025 Stifel Charity Classic (Stifel Charity Classic)

Stifel Charity Classic

The first round of the 2025 Stifel Charity Classic presented by Compliance Solutions wrapped up Friday at Norwood Hills Country Club, with Stewart Cink taking the early lead. Cink fired a 7-under-par 64, marking his third career 18-hole lead/co-lead on PGA TOUR Champions and his second this season.

Cink, who finished third in last year’s Stifel Charity Classic, has now recorded four consecutive rounds in the 60s at Norwood Hills, and he enters the week second in the Charles Schwab Cup Rankings. A win here would mark his fourth career PGA TOUR Champions victory in his 30th start.

Friday Round 1 Highlights

  • Stewart Cink: 64 (-7), 1st

  • Thomas Bjørn: 65 (-6), 2nd

  • Arjun Atwal: 66 (-5), T3

  • Y.E. Yang: 66 (-5), T3

Notable performances include Thomas Bjørn, who carded his career-best round at Norwood Hills with a 65, and Monday qualifier Arjun Atwal, who reached 7-under through 12 holes before finishing 5-under. Defending champion Y.E. Yang, making his 100th PGA TOUR Champions start, sits T3 and aims for his fourth top-three finish in four appearances at this event.

Seventy-one-year-old St. Louis native Jay Haas matched his age with an even-par 71, continuing a remarkable streak of shooting his age or better on the PGA TOUR Champions. Meanwhile, 2021 champion David Toms withdrew before the opening round due to a back injury, replaced by Heath Slocum (T24/-2).
