Cards Finish Series Vs. Ohtani, Dodgers

The St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers will decide their three-game series today in a Wednesday matinee at Dodger Stadium.

LA evened up the series with a 12-6 blowout win last night that saw the Dodgers clobber 4 home runs and record 17 hits.

Libby Playing With Fire

Matthew Liberatore will make the start for the Redbirds. The left-hander has not been particularly sharp in his two outings since getting extended rest after the All Star break. Liberatore was only charged with 2 earned runs in 8.2 innings in those starts, but he also gave up 4 unearned runs while getting tagged for 10 hits with 4 walks and just 4 strikeouts.

Liberatore is making his first ever start against the Dodgers, but he has struggled to a 7.27 ERA in 6 career relief appearances against them.

Ohtani On The Mound

The Dodgers will give the ball to Shohei Ohtani in the series finale. Ohtani hasn’t worked deep in any of his seven appearances on the mound this season, with his longest outing lasting just 3 innings. But he has been effective with a 2.40 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 15 innings.

The Dodgers had been struggling offensively of late, but they got some good mojo back with last night’s pounding of Miles Mikolas and the Cardinals. The Dodgers have excelled against southpaws this season as well, as their .762 team OPS against lefties ranks third in MLB.

My Pick

Liberatore has been fortunate to see his ERA drop since the All Star break, but I don’t think he’s going to get as lucky today.

The Dodgers regained some swagger last night and they crush lefties, so I’m expecting them to have a good offensive day. And while Ohtani likely won’t pitch deep in the game, he should be plenty effective and LA’s high-leverage bullpen arms are fresh after a decisive win last night.

Get a plus money price by taking the Dodgers to win and parlaying them with the Blue Jays, who are bludgeoning the Rockies this week at Coors Field.

Pick: Two-team moneyline parlay priced at +100 on DraftKings - Dodgers and Blue Jays (bet to -110)
