Can Cards Snap Streak?

The St. Louis Cardinals will try to get back on the winning track when they face the Milwaukee Brewers this afternoon at American Family Field.

The losing streak is up to six games for the Redbirds after last night’s 3-2 defeat. Meanwhile, the surging Brewers are now 13-5 over their last 18 games.

Nootbaar Gets A Break

The Cards will have a different look at the top of their lineup today with the struggling Lars Nootbaar scheduled to get a breather. Nootbaar is in the midst of a 1-for-32 funk with 17 strikeouts during that stretch.

The Cardinals may need to put up a good number of runs today with Andre Pallante on the mound. The right-hander has the highest ERA in the starting rotation at 4.75, and he has a 7.71 ERA and 2.14 WHIP in 6 career games at this ballpark.

Quintana Cruising Along

The Brewers counter today with Jose Quintana. The former Cardinal has been his usual consistent self for Milwaukee. Quintana had one start where he gave up 6 runs, but he has given up a grand total of just 7 runs in his other 7 starts combined this season.

Cardinals hitters have fared poorly against Quintana in their careers. Hitters on the Cards’ roster are a combined 9-for-73 (.123 average) lifetime against him.

My Pick

As my Domesticated Gamblers co-host Shawn Surwillo often says, “Sometimes when you’re hot, you’re hot. And when you’re cold, you’re cold.”

I can try to spin the numbers any which way I want, but at the end of the day, the Brewers are hot right now and the Cardinals are cold.

Maybe a new look at the top of the lineup will give the Redbirds a spark today. But I just don’t trust Pallante anymore, and as a longtime fantasy baseball player, Quintana has been in my circle of trust for over a decade now.

I would endorse taking the Brewers at -123 on the moneyline, but I’m going to tack on both teams to score in the game to bring the price down to +100.

Pick: Same Game Parlay priced at +100 on DraftKings - Brewers on the moneyline AND Both teams to score 1+ runs (bet to -110)
