Chris Roycroft entered in relief and immediately allowed a pinch-hit triple to Drew Waters. Maikel Garcia followed with a go-ahead RBI single to right, putting the Royals up 2-1.

Brendan Donovan had a four-hit day (three singles and a double) but was stranded each time.
