Blues Head To Minnesota
The St. Louis Blues look to get back on the winning track when they travel to face the Minnesota Wild tonight.
The Blues are coming off a 5-3 loss at Pittsburgh on Thursday, marking their second straight defeat. The loss dropped the Blues’ odds to make the playoffs to +450 at DraftKings.
Blues Still Playing Well
Despite the two recent defeats, the Blues are still 7-2-2 over their last eleven games. In their only two regulation losses during that stretch, the Blues outshot the Stars 42-21 and the Penguins 36-22. So I think their process is still right, and the results will come.
It appears the betting market shares my optimistic viewpoint on the Blues. They opened as the +124 underdogs, but they’ve been bet up to the same -110 price as the Wild to win tonight’s matchup.
Wild Not Scoring
The Wild are safely in the playoffs at this point, but they have been oddly mediocre at home. Minnesota is 15-14-2 at home while going 22-10-3 on the road.
The Wild have also been very quiet offensively lately, as they’ve scored two or fewer goals in eight of their last nine games. The under has cashed in 63% of Minnesota’s home games this season.
My Lean
I was looking forward to betting this game because I was eyeing up the Blues and the under when the odds opened up yesterday. But with a busy day yesterday and the weather knocking out the power at my house, I think the value is gone on both plays by the time I got around to writing this article. The under opened up at -110, and also I only want to bet the Blues if they are at plus money.
It’s important to be picky on price when it comes to sports gambling. You will lose money over the long haul if you get in the habit of making too many bets when the price goes in the opposite direction of where you want it to go.
So my lean for this game is the Blues on the money line, as I would not want to lay -125 on the under. If the Blues get back to plus money, it’ll be a bet for me. I still have optimism for the Blues with their recent play, and the Wild are in a scoring drought right now. Let’s hope it continues for one more game.
Lean: Blues at -110 on the moneyline on DraftKings
