Saint Louis University (17-12, 10-6 A-10) cruised to a 98-67 victory over Loyola Chicago (19-10, 10-6 A-10) on Saturday afternoon, creating a four-way tie for third place in the Atlantic-10 Conference with Loyola Chicago, Dayton, and Saint Joseph’s all leveled with the Billikens.
Game Recap:
Saint Louis quickly took control of the game, grabbing the lead with 18:18 left in the first half and never relinquishing it. By halftime, the Billikens led 53-33, with Gibson Jimerson contributing 19 of those points.
Loyola Chicago made a push at the start of the second half, going on a 10-3 run to cut SLU’s lead to 56-43. However, that was as close as the Ramblers would get. The Billikens responded with a 16-5 run, led by Avila’s 16 second-half points, to extend their lead to 72-48 with 10:29 remaining. From there, SLU cruised to victory.
Key Performances:
Gibson Jimerson led the Billikens, tying a career-high 33 points, shooting 9-for-17 from 3-point range and breaking the school record for most threes in a game.
Robbie Avila added 28 points, including 3-of-3 shooting from behind the arc and 13-of-15 from the free-throw line. He also contributed seven rebounds and five assists.
Isaiah Swope scored 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting.
