The Saint Louis University Billikens continue their Atlantic 10 revenge tour tonight on the road against the Dayton Flyers.
Earlier in the season, SLU won at VCU for the first time ever before completing a season sweep of the Rams this past Friday at Chaifetz Arena.
Now the Billikens head to Dayton hoping to end a losing streak at UD Arena that stretches all the way back to 2014.
SLU absolutely throttled Dayton in the first matchup this season, rolling past the Flyers 102-71 back on January 30th in St. Louis.
Another A+ performance like that may be too much to ask, but I do expect the Bills to get this done and cover a small spread.
Dayton is playing better of late, as the Flyers are winners of three straight games all by double digits. But I don’t think they’ll be able to hang with the Bills for a full 40 minutes.
Dayton struggles from 3, ranking 196th out of 365 Division One teams in 3-point shooting (33.7%) while SLU ranks 4th in the country in 3-point field goal percentage defense.
I could also see the Billikens going nuclear from deep offensively. They are the top-shooting team in the nation at 41.4% from behind the arc, and Dayton has been awful defending the 3 (315th in the country at 36.5%)
SLU also should have a strong edge on the glass. The Billikens lead the A10 in rebounding margin while Dayton is second-to-last in that category.
The second half against VCU on Friday was huge for the Billikens for a variety of reasons between beating one of their rivals, strengthening their chances for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, and getting one step closer to an A10 regular season championship.
But also, the Bills got their mojo back after the loss to Rhode Island.
I expect them to carry over the good vibes and end their losing streak in Dayton in a tough, competitive game.
