Blues Get Ready For Break
The St. Louis Blues play their final game before the Olympic break tonight in Dallas against the Stars.
After tonight, the Blues’ next game won’t come until February 26th against Seattle.
Blues Reeling
The Blues hit rock bottom on Monday night in Nashville, blowing a 5-1 lead in falling 6-5 in devastating fashion. The loss dropped their road record to 7-16-3, and they have the second-fewest points in the NHL with 49.
That marked the second time this season the Blues lost a game after being ahead by 4 goals. The first instance was a 6-4 defeat in Detroit after leading 4-0 back on October 25th. The next game? The Blues didn’t respond, getting blown out by Pittsburgh 6-3.
Stars Are Hot
The Stars head into tonight’s action on a five-game winning streak. Each of the victories during that stretch have come by one goal.
Two of those wins have come against the Blues - 3-2 in Dallas on January 23rd and 4-3 in St. Louis on January 27th.
My Lean
The Blues have the feel to me tonight of dead team walking. I would imagine they can’t wait to get away from the rink and have a break from what has been a disastrous season. Plus we’ve already seen it once this season where the Blues couldn’t get off the mat after losing a game while having a 4-goal lead.
The Stars are pushing right now, as they are still trying to chase down Colorado and Minnesota in the Central Division. I know each of their wins in this stretch have come by one goal, but if forced to make a bet in this game, I would ride with Dallas to win by margin.
Lean: Stars -1.5 at +124 on DraftKings
