Blues, Sabres Square Off
The St. Louis Blues look for a season sweep of the Buffalo Sabres when the two teams tangle tonight at Enterprise Center.
The Blues shut out the Sabres 3-0 back on November 6th in Buffalo.
Blues Look For Consecutive Wins
The Blues are going for a second straight win tonight after edging the Predators 3-2 this past Saturday.
The Blues have won two consecutive games just three times this season - once each in October, November, and December. They have yet to win three games in a row.
Sabres Scorching Hot
The Sabres come to St. Louis winners of eight straight games, which is the longest current streak in the NHL. Five of those eight victories have come on the road, and Buffalo’s defense has been particularly stingy during this winning streak with just 15 goals allowed.
The Sabres have the league’s #3 penalty kill unit with an 84.6% success rate.
My Pick
One of my golden rules in sports gambling is never mess with a winning streak, and I see no reason to hop off the Buffalo train here at this price.
As referenced above, the Blues have struggled to string wins together this season, so I’m interested in fading them coming off a win.
This is the life of a .500 team, which is what the Blues are. When you’re fed up with them and ready to write them off, they come through with a victory. But when you’re thinking they are about to get things rolling, they take a step back. I think we see the latter of those scenarios this evening against the NHL’s hottest team.
Pick: Sabres on the moneyline at -115 on DraftKings (bet to -120)
