Blues Play Devils On Thanksgiving Eve
The St. Louis Blues wrap up their five-game road trip tonight against the New Jersey Devils.
The Blues are 1-1-2 so far on the trip, with their most recent game being a 3-2 loss to the Rangers on Monday.
Blues Not Scoring
While defense was the main problem in October, the Blues’ offense has now been the biggest issue here in November. They have scored a total of just 9 goals over their last 5 games, and they’ve put up more than 3 goals just once in their last 15 contests.
The Blues have literally nobody performing at a high level offensively this season. Justin Faulk, Jordan Kyrou, and Robert Thomas are tied for the team lead with 13 points. Every other NHL team has at least one player with 15+ points this season.
Devils Missing Hughes
The Devils are off to a great start this season, but they have hit a bit of a rough patch since star forward Jack Hughes got sidelined due to injury on November 12th. Since then, the Devils are 2-3 and have scored only 11 goals.
The Devils and Blues split two meetings last season, with the Blues winning 3-0 at New Jersey and the Devils coming away with a 4-1 victory in St. Louis.
My Lean
Each of the last four meetings with these teams has seen 5 or fewer goals, and I think we’ll see another low-scoring affair this evening.
The Devils are not nearly as potent with Hughes out, and I referenced the Blues’ goal-scoring struggles above.
The under is now 9-3 in St. Louis games this month. Also the Blues have been an underdog 10 previous times this season, and the under is 8-2 in those instances.
Lean: Under 5.5 at -105 on DraftKings
