Blues Face Flyers

The St. Louis Blues play the third of a four-game homestand on Friday night when the Philadelphia Flyers come to town.

The Blues lost both meetings with the Flyers last season in low-scoring games of 3-2 and 2-1.

Blues Showing Some Good Signs

The Blues are 1-0-1 on the homestand so far with an overtime loss to Seattle and a regulation win over Calgary. They are showing signs of coming out of their early season slump, as they played pretty good hockey in the final two games of their seven-game losing streak before putting together a 3-1-1 stretch over their last five.

The Blues have tightened up their defense after a dreadful October where they allowed 4.36 goals per game. Here in the month of November, they have given up 2.83 goals per game over 6 contests.

Flyers Need A Win

The Flyers got off to a great start this season, but they’ve now lost two in a row and four of their last six.

Philadelphia games have not featured a ton of goals this season with the under posting a 9-7 record. The Flyers rank 29th in the NHL in goals scored per game, but they have been impressive defensively by ranking 4th in the league with 2.56 goals against per game.

My Lean

As noted above, I think a lot of signs point to the under in this one. And while the Blues have been playing better defensively lately, they haven’t been lighting the lamp a ton. The Blues have now gone 9 straight games without scoring more than 3 goals.

Combine that with the fact that five straight meetings with the Blues and Flyers have gone under the total, and I think that makes the under the best play if you’re going to bet this one on Friday night.

Lean: Under 5.5 at -108 on DraftKings
