Blues Head To Buffalo
It’s back to the drawing board tonight for the St. Louis Blues, as they’ll be in Buffalo to take on the Sabres.
After snapping a seven-game losing streak by beating the Oilers 3-2 on Monday to provide their fans some optimism, the Blues fell flat on their face in a 6-1 blowout loss at Washington last night.
Blues’ Road Struggles Continue
The Blues have now lost eight of their last nine overall, and they are currently carrying a four-game road losing streak with all of those defeats coming in regulation and three of the four coming by multiple goals. They have been blown out way too frequently this season with six of their losses having been by a margin of three or more goals.
This is a tough spot tonight for the Blues with it being the second game of a back-to-back while the Sabres have been at home all week and had last night off. The Blues got drilled by the Red Wings 5-2 in the second leg of their only other back-to-back so far this season.
Sabres Solid At Home
Buffalo is coming off a 2-1 overtime loss at home on Tuesday against Utah. The Sabres have played well at home this season though with a record of 5-2-2.
One positive for the Blues so far is their power play ranks 9th in the NHL, but they’ll be up against it tonight facing a Sabres squad that has the top-ranked penalty killing unit in the league with a 90.9% success rate.
My Lean
This is getting embarrassing. You would think the Blues should come out tonight and play with some pride after getting destroyed by the Capitals last night, but this team’s mental toughness feels extremely questionable right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if Doug Armstrong makes a move to shake up the roster sooner than later.
The situational spot is bad with the Blues on a back-to-back and facing a rested team. The Sabres have played well at home, and they’re in good scoring form as well. Buffalo is averaging 3.6 goals per game over their last ten, which would rank 4th in the NHL for the season. If you’re going to bet this one, ride with the home team to win by margin at a big plus money price.
Lean: Sabres -1.5 at +190 on DraftKings
