The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills renew their rivalry on Sunday afternoon in an important AFC matchup.
In a surprising development, both Kansas City and Buffalo trail in their respective divisions. The Chiefs are tied with the Chargers and a game behind the Broncos in the AFC West, while the Patriots hold a half-game lead over the Bills in the AFC East.
Both teams definitely seem to have righted the ship after some earlier struggles. The Chiefs have racked up three straight comfortable victories after starting the season 2-3, while the Bills stopped a two-game slide with a resounding 40-9 rout of the Panthers last week.
Kansas City has owned Buffalo in the playoffs during the Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen era with victories in all four postseason meetings.
But it has been a different story in the regular season during this era, with the Chiefs just 1-4 against the Bills both straight up and against the spread.
If forced to pick a winner in this game, I would go with the Chiefs. They certainly seemed to have found their identity as a team for how they need to win in 2025, and their defense has been terrific while ranking 2nd in the NFL with 16.4 points allowed per game.
But I think a better bet for this game resides in the player prop market.
Kareem Hunt is expected to get an increase in touches with Isiah Pacheco out with an injury on Sunday, and I think Hunt is a great bet to score a touchdown in this one. He has already been serving as the main goal line back and has racked up five touchdowns in the last six games, including two last week.
Hunt is facing a Buffalo defense that ranks 31st against the run and has allowed 10 rushing touchdowns this season. Only the lowly Tennessee Titans have given up more rushing touchdowns this season than the Bills.
