A pair of struggling teams get together tonight when the St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks square off at Enterprise Center.
The Blues are riding a five-game losing streak, while the Canucks come to St. Louis having dropped four of their last five.
Blues Keep Leaking Goals
It’s becoming a broken record, but the Blues just cannot stop giving up goals. They have now allowed 24 goals over their last four games, which has contributed to them ranking second-worst in the NHL with 4.4 goals against per game this season. Their team save percentage of .840 is dead last in the league.
The good news for the Blues is they have dominated the Canucks in recent years with a 10-2-1 record in the last 13 meetings, including a 5-2 win at Vancouver on October 13th.
Canucks Look To Bounce Back
The Canucks are coming off a 2-0 loss to the Rangers a couple nights ago, which was the first time they’ve been shut out this season.
The Canucks come to St. Louis as a pretty significant underdog, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The Blues have won just one of the seven games they’ve been favored in this season.
My Pick
Maybe the Blues can stop their skid tonight against another team that is currently in a rut, but there’s no way I want to lay -148 on the Blues when they’re in such a bad place right now as a team.
Instead for the third consecutive Blues game, I recommend a bet on the over. If you bet the over in every Blues game this season, your record would be 7-3. You’d also be profitable doing the same thing in Canucks games with a record of 6-4-1.
Each of the last five meetings with these teams has gone over the total with exactly seven goals scored in each game, and I see no reason to steer away from that until the Blues get their act together defensively and in between the pipes.
