Blues Resume Homestand
The St. Louis Blues resume their four-game homestand tonight when the Los Angeles Kings visit Enterprise Center.
The Blues notched their first home victory of the season in their last game, a 3-1 win over Dallas this past Saturday. They are 1-1 on this homestand after dropping the opener to Chicago 8-3.
Blues Look To Build Momentum
The Blues finally got their defense on track at home on Saturday after permitting a whopping 13 goals in their first two home games of the year. They gave up just 1 goal on 19 shots in the win over the Stars.
The Blues would be wise to stay out of the penalty box tonight if they want to build off that defensive performance. The Kings have converted 25% of their power play opportunities this season, which ranks 7th in the NHL.
Kings Need To Get Going
It has been a struggle to start the season for the Kings. They have dropped four games in a row, including a 4-3 overtime loss to Carolina this past Saturday in their last game.
The Kings have not been handed any favors by the schedule makers. Four of their first six games have come against some of the elite teams in the NHL in Colorado, Vegas, Winnipeg, and Carolina.
My Lean
It was great to see the Blues finally play well at home last time out. But as they search for some consistency, I actually think this is a good buy-low spot on Los Angeles.
The Kings are going to be desperate for a win in this one to avoid seeing their losing streak extend to five - and they are very close to breaking through. The skid has seen a one-goal regulation loss, a defeat in a shootout, a blown 2-0 lead in a tight 4-2 loss that featured an empty net goal, and the overtime defeat most recently.
This is a good Los Angeles team. Even with the early struggles, the Kings’ season point total is set at 94.5 on DraftKings, which is higher than the Blues’ number of 92.5. So with the Blues’ mixed results so far on home ice, I think LA is the play.
Lean: Kings on the moneyline at +110 on DraftKings
