The Kansas City Chiefs look to climb over the .500 mark for the first time this season when they host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in an AFC West matchup.

The Chiefs have won three of their last four games, highlighted by last week’s resounding 30-17 victory over the high-powered Detroit Lions. Meanwhile, the Raiders snapped a four-game slide last week by taking care of the Tennessee Titans 20-10.

It looks like the Chiefs are getting back in their groove, while the Raiders have not been impressive this season.

That said, I can’t lay this many points with Kansas City.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have not been a good bet as a large favorite in recent years. Since 2020, when favored by more than a touchdown like they are here, Mahomes is 36-2 straight up but just 13-24-1 against the spread - and both of those straight up losses came against the Raiders.

The Silver and Black have played Kansas City tough recently, as the Chiefs have failed to cover in three straight meetings.

Rashee Rice will be back this week, but I don’t think that’s reason enough to back Kansas City to cover this big number. After many tough matchups to start the season, I could see this being a game where the Chiefs just want to take care of business, get the win, and not worry about margin.

Grab the points in this division matchup.
