Cards Go For Series Win
The St. Louis Cardinals go for a third straight win tonight when they face the San Francisco Giants in the second of a three-game set.
The Cards edged San Francisco 6-5 last night to improve to 25-20 in one-run games this season. The Giants have been subpar in that spot with a 26-29 record in one-run games.
Pallante Wraps Up Disappointing Season
Andre Pallante makes his final start of 2025 tonight hoping to avoid a 16th loss on the year. Pallante’s performance this season has indicated he shouldn’t be part of the rotation plans for 2026, as his 5.29 ERA ranks 51st out of 54 qualified MLB starters.
Pallante will need to be careful with Matt Chapman in this one. The Giants third baseman is 6-for-10 lifetime against Pallante with a 1.536 OPS.
Giants Go With Webb
The Giants counter with one of MLB’s most consistent starters in Logan Webb. The right-hander has had an ERA under 3.50 each of the last five seasons, and if he pitches at least 4.1 innings tonight, he’ll reach 200 innings for the third consecutive year.
Webb has been particularly effective at his home park. He has a 3.18 ERA at Oracle Park this season and a 2.85 ERA at home for his career.
My Lean
This is a pitching mismatch tonight. It’s never a bad idea to back Webb when he is on the mound at home, and it’s pretty much impossible to bet on Pallante with how poor his season has been.
However, that is reflected in the price with San Francisco being -200 on the moneyline. So if you’re adamant about betting this one, I’d recommend going with the Giants to win the first five innings at a much better price. If Pallante can match Webb, take the loss, tip your cap, and move on.
Lean: Giants -0.5 in the first five innings at -130 on DraftKings
