Cards Go For Four Straight Wins

The St. Louis Cardinals look to complete a sweep of the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday at Great American Ball Park.

With a victory, the Cards can get back to the .500 mark, pass the Reds for third place in the NL Central, and hand Cincinnati a sixth straight defeat.

Pallante Needs Major Turnaround

Andre Pallante heads to the hill for St. Louis looking to end a terrible run of starts. The Cardinals have lost each of his last four outings with Pallante getting clobbered for 22 earned runs and 29 hits in just 17 innings of work.

On the positive side, Pallante has faced the Reds twice this season and posted a quality start each time. He also has a 1.93 ERA in 17 career games (7 starts) against them.

Reds In A Funk

The Cardinals have caught the Reds at the right time with Cincinnati having lost eight of nine. The Reds’ bats have fallen silent with an average of just 2.67 runs per game during this stretch.

Sunday’s Cincinnati starter Brady Singer has been doing his job of late despite his team’s struggles. The right-hander has permitted 0 or 1 runs in five of his last six starts. Singer has gone up against the Cardinals twice this season and given up just 2 runs and 6 hits across 12 innings.

My Pick

Pallante hasn’t looked right for quite a while now. He has reached a career high in innings, and with a pretty fresh bullpen after Michael McGreevy’s quality start on Saturday, I could see Oli Marmol being aggressive with his relievers if Pallante struggles early.

I recommend betting Pallante to go under his outs recorded prop of 15.5. That means if he pitches 5 innings or fewer, you would win your bet. Pallante has gone under 15.5 outs in six of his last eight starts.

The Reds are scuffling offensively right now, but Pallante could be just what the doctor ordered to get them out of their slump. And even if Pallante pitches decently, I could see a scenario where he goes 5 innings and gives up 2 runs and Marmol gets him out of there at that point.

Pick: Andre Pallante under 15.5 outs at -115 on DraftKings (bet to -120)
