Cards Go For Sweep
The St. Louis Cardinals look to complete a sweep of the Marlins when the two clubs wrap up their three-game series tonight in Miami.
The Redbirds can also get back to the .500 mark with a victory this evening, as their offense is starting to simmer again with 27 runs scored over their last four games.
Pallante On The Mound
Andre Pallante heads to the hill tonight looking to shut down the Marlins for the second time in a few weeks. He dominated them at Busch Stadium back on July 28th, pitching 7 shutout innings while permitting just 1 hit and 1 walk.
However, Pallante comes into this outing in a bad run of form. In his last two starts, the right-hander has been lit up for 10 runs and 13 hits in just 6.2 innings in losses to the Cubs and Yankees.
Alcantara A Confusing Case
It has been an up-and-down (mostly down) year for tonight’s Miami starter Sandy Alcantara after missing the entire 2024 season due to injury. The 2022 NL Cy Young winner carried an 8.47 ERA at the end of May. Alcantara has made 13 starts since then. He has allowed 2 runs or less six times, but 3 runs or more seven times during that stretch.
Alcantara is coming off an excellent start his last time out in Boston, tossing 6 innings of 1-run ball while giving up just 2 hits with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. He also shut out the Cardinals for 5 innings back on July 29th at Busch Stadium.
My Lean
I wouldn’t touch the side or total in this game, as I find Pallante and Alcantara to be two of the most unpredictable starters in all of baseball.
If you’re adamant on wanting to bet this game, this might be a good one to sprinkle a few bucks on a fun parlay.
Alec Burleson can be streaky, and he’s on a good run right now hitting .354 with an .871 OPS over the last two weeks.
Lars Nootbaar is heating back up with seven hits over his last three games.
And Marlins infielder Xavier Edwards has been hot for a while now, as he’s hitting .348 over the last month and .304 for the season.
If you take a parlay with all of those players to have 2+ total bases, that gives you a +675 price that could be worth a sprinkle.
Lean: Same Game Parlay priced at +675 on DraftKings - Alec Burleson, Lars Nootbaar, and Xavier Edwards to all have 2+ total bases
