The wind blowing in is a welcome sight for tonight’s Cardinals starter Erick Fedde, who desperately needs a good performance to get his season back on track. The right-hander has gotten smashed in his last two outings:

Boyd Hopes To Keep Rolling
The Cubs counter with Matthew Boyd, who is having a career year for Chicago so far. The left-hander is 8-3 with a 2.65 ERA in 2025, including 7-0 with a 2.44 ERA at Wrigley. Boyd pitched 6 shutout innings in a win over the Cardinals back on June 25th.

My Pick
The Cardinals did what they had to do yesterday to avoid a disaster weekend, with tonight’s pitching matchup clearly favoring the Cubs. I expected Chicago to be a sizable favorite in this one, but -218 is higher than I anticipated.
The wind blowing in should help keep this game close, but there’s no way I can back the Cardinals here with Fedde on the bump. I think the Cubs win this game, and I’m going to tack on Swanson to get a hit to give myself a much better price. He has at least one hit in 10 of his last 11 games.
