CITY Back At It
St. Louis CITY SC will be back in action on Wednesday night at home against Orlando City SC.
CITY has been off since June 14th when they played a wild 3-3 draw with LA Galaxy. The result moved CITY to 1-1-1 under caretaker manager David Critchley.
CITY Games Exciting Again
While CITYโs results have still been inconsistent, it has certainly been a more exciting brand of soccer under Critchley that has led to some high-scoring games. CITY has scored 6 total goals in the last three games, which is the highest total theyโve had in any three-game stretch this season.
However, there are still plenty of things to clean up defensively. CITY has allowed 6 total goals in these three games as well, and they have failed to keep a clean sheet in nine straight games and in 13 of their last 14.
Downturn For Orlando
Orlando recently had a 12-game unbeaten run, which is a big reason why they reside in fifth place in the Eastern Conference and firmly in the playoff mix.
However, they have come back down to earth lately. In their last three games, Orlando has suffered two losses (3-2 at Atlanta and 3-1 vs Chicago) and also got a 1-0 win at Colorado, but they were not the better team in that victory and were fortunate to come out on top.
My Pick
This is a tough game to pick a winner, but I do expect we see some more goals in this one. I just think the style CITY is playing right now lends itself to goals on both ends of the pitch.
My play is for both teams to score and for there to be over 2.5 goals in the game. This is a bet that has cashed in all three CITY games under Critchley, and it has hit in two of the three Orlando games since their hot streak came to an end.
I prefer this play to the over 3 because betting the over 3 requires 4 goals for you to get a winner. By taking my play, a 2-1 final gets you to the window, and I think that scoreline is very much in play.
Pick: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at -125 on DraftKings (bet to -130)
