Seven Battlehawks Named to All-UFL Team (St Louis Battlehawks)

There's plenty to be happy about for the St. Louis Battlehawks this season, and now there's even more to celebrate. Seven members of the Battlehawks were named to the United Football League's All-UFL Team, including potential UFL Defensive Player of the Year LB Pita Taumoepenu and K Rodrigo Blankenship. Seven selections match the Battlehawks' rival, the DC Defenders, for most in the league.

The league announced the full slate of players earlier today:

Jacob Saylors rushed for 499 yards and five touchdowns this season, both second in the league. However, he only played 9 games this season and still averaged more yards per game than any other UFL running back. His 744 total yards were also a UFL record. Gonzalez and Panasiuk, and the rest of the Battlehawks' offensive line, have benefited from rookie offensive line coach Marc Colombo's influence. The Battlehawks lead the league in total, passing, and rushing yardage, and time of possession.

Pita Taumoepenu tied for the league lead in sacks with 10 and forced fumbles with three. Willie Harvey was 12th in the league with 58 tackles and had this spectacular interception return for a touchdown:

Rodrigo Blankenship had a near-perfect year, going 21/22 on field goals for the season, including his streak of 16 straight makes to start the season. Matheson was part of a stellar special teams unit and gets the all-UFL team nod here.

The Battlehawks will face the Defenders in the Battle Dome this Sunday, June 8, at 5 PM CST. The game will air live on FOX. If you're interested in supporting the team, tickets for the game are still available via Ticketmaster
