South African side Kaizer Chiefs announced that Njabulo Blom's purchase clause will not be exercised subsequent to his loan from St. Louis CITY SC, stating that they wish him the best of luck back in St. Louis. The question is: will he actually return?

After completing his loan spell with Kaizer Chiefs, Njabulo Blom will return to his parent club, St. Louis City SC, in the United States of America.

Njabulo Blom enjoys a $392,250/yr salary through the end of 2025 with a club option in 2026. Blom scored 2 goals in 42 appearances for St. Louis across 2023 and 2024. His defensive-minded game was strong when he first joined the Lou, but as time went on, his quality wavered, and he fell out of the order for the club.
This led to frustrations for the South African native. Blom refused to join the team for a penalty shootout against FC JuΓ‘rez in the Leagues Cup in August of 2024, resulting in disciplinary action and a temporary suspension from the club.

A similar siutation happened during his loan to Kaizer Chiefs, where he was seen on camera arguing with his coach and refusing to substitute onto the pitch at a position he was not comfortable playing.
There's someone we're forgetting about, #AllForCITY:

Njabulo Blom.
Blom has just sent the Kaizer Chiefs fans into a frenzy after disrespecting their management in front of cameras--the same move that got him suspended from CITY before being loaned.
That loan expires in 43 days.β¦
Given his history of issues in the locker room, it is unlikely that St. Louis CITY SC feel overly compelled to roster Blom. He also requires an international slot and a senior roster slot, neither of which St. Louis have available.
All that being said, I expect that Blom will be loaned down to CITY2 for the remainder of the 2025 season, loaned to a different willing club through the end of the season, or even potentially bought out. If he is kept on the roster via a loan, CITY will most likely not activate his 2026 club option, meaning we will likely never see the 25 year old in CITY Red ever again.
