CITY Heads To Minnesota
St. Louis CITY SC begins a tough four-game stretch when they travel to face Minnesota United on Saturday night.
Three of the next four games for CITY are on the road, with the only home game coming against a San Jose team that leads MLS in most goals scored.
CITY Woes Continue
CITY is now winless in their last nine MLS games after Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City. CITY blew a 2-0 lead in that game, giving them six losses and three draws during this futile run.
A leaky defense continues to be a big problem for this club. After allowing just two total goals in their first six games of the season, CITY has now conceded 14 goals across their last seven MLS matches.
Bounceback Spot For Minnesota
Minnesota is in third place in the Western Conference with 22 points, and they’ll be looking to rebound after suffering a 2-0 defeat at Houston mid-week.
While CITY’s defense is crumbling, Minnesota’s is thriving. Minnesota has given up just 13 goals in their 13 games this season. Only two teams in MLS have conceded fewer times.
My Pick
At this point, it’s not a question of if we fade CITY - it’s how do we fade CITY?
I think this is a horrific spot for this team. CITY has got to be incredibly disheartened after blowing a 2-0 lead against their rival on Wednesday. They had to be thinking that was the opportunity to end their winless run, but they let it slip away.
Now they head on the road to face a good Minnesota team that I think is in a perfect bounceback spot.
Minnesota crushed Lionel Messi and Inter Miami 4-1 last weekend, and their social media team taunted Inter Miami after the game by calling them a “pink phony club” (which I thought was outstanding by the way). Inter Miami’s owner David Beckham responded by urging Minnesota to show some respect… and then Minnesota proceeded to travel down to Houston coming off that big win and get shut out in a 2-0 loss this past Wednesday.
I think this is a perfect spot for Minnesota to come back home, refocus, and take advantage of playing a struggling CITY team.
I don’t recommend taking Minnesota on the moneyline with that heavy -190 juice, so I will be on Minnesota -1 at a much better price. That means CITY has to get a result in order for me to lose this bet, and I would be very surprised to see that happen.
This is one of my favorite plays from across the world of sports this weekend. I’m expecting a 2-0 or 3-0 Minnesota win, with no harm done if Minnesota wins by only one goal.
Pick: Minnesota United -1 at -105 on DraftKings (bet to -130)
