CITY Tries To Sweep Seattle
St. Louis CITY SC heads back west to face the Seattle Sounders on Saturday night.
CITY picked up a 2-2 draw at LAFC last weekend, marking CITY’s sixth consecutive game without a win (four losses and two draws). Their last victory was back on March 15th against this same Seattle team at Energizer Park.
CITY Trending Up?
Despite the winless skid, CITY should be feeling some confidence after picking up a point in each of their last two games. Vancouver has the most points in MLS, and CITY held them scoreless in a 0-0 draw. And the 2-2 draw at LAFC featured a much more dynamic offensive attack in the second half.
CITY has also shown they can shut down this Seattle team, as they beat the Sounders 1-0 in the prior meeting while allowing 0 big chances in that game according to Sofascore.
Seattle Missing Top Scorer
Seattle is unbeaten in their last three matches with two wins and a draw, but they are facing injury issues heading into this game.
The Sounders’ all-time leading goal scorer Jordan Morris is going to miss this game with a hamstring injury. Morris missed the game in St. Louis as well, and Seattle did not display a dangerous attack in that match.
My Pick
I don’t understand why Seattle is such a big favorite here, so I’m happy to take CITY +1 at a plus money price of +110.
Taking CITY +1 means if they win or draw, I win the bet.
If CITY loses by 1, this bet is a push.
The only way I lose money is if Seattle wins by two or more goals, and I have a hard time seeing that happen here. CITY has lost by 2+ goals just once in their ten games this season.
Seattle’s poor goal scoring form is what I like best about this wager. In their last eleven games in all competitions, the Sounders have scored zero or one goals in nine of those eleven games. If that happens again, it’s impossible for me to lose this bet.
When I see a line of +1 in a soccer game, I ask myself is it more likely that the underdog loses by two goals or gets a draw?
To me, the data screams that it’s way more likely CITY gets a draw as opposed to losing by two. So I love taking CITY +1 at plus money and would be surprised if I get anything worse than a push.
Pick: St. Louis CITY SC +1 at +110 on DraftKings (bet to -120)
