Red-Hot Blues Head To Dallas
The surging St. Louis Blues look for their fifth consecutive win tonight when they meet the Dallas Stars down in Texas.
The Blues had a very productive day yesterday by beating the Kings 4-1, while their close competitors in the playoff race Vancouver, Calgary, Utah, and Anaheim all lost in regulation. The results helped the Blues’ odds to make the playoffs jump from +900 to +500 this weekend on DraftKings.
Blues Performing Offensively And Defensively
The Blues are firing on all cylinders right now with 28 goals scored over their last six games. The defense has also been rock-solid during the four-game winning streak with just six total goals allowed.
However, the Stars have been a tough matchup for them this season with losses of 2-0 and 2-1 in the two previous meetings. The Blues will also be up against one of the NHL’s best home teams today, as Dallas is 21-7-1 on home ice.
Stars Scoring For Fun
As hot as the Blues have been, Dallas is right there with them. The Stars have won nine of their last twelve games overall, and they have scored at least four goals in ten of those twelve games.
Dallas is also very strong defensively, having allowed the second-fewest goals in the NHL.
My Pick
I love the Blues. I couldn’t be more excited about their recent play and think they have a legitimate chance to make a run to get in the playoffs.
But when it comes to sports gambling, you have to compartmentalize your fandom from your brain when picking a game. And this is a horrific spot for the Blues.
The Blues had to travel overnight to Dallas for the second game of this back-to-back, and this also marks their third game in four days. The Kings were in the exact same spot in St. Louis last night and fell to the Blues 4-1.
The Stars are on fire, they are dominant at home, and they have the situational edge here.
I don’t want to lay -230 on the money line, and I don’t like the regulation line and puck line odds either. So I’m going to get creative and add a player prop in a Same Game Parlay on DraftKings to make the price right.
Stars center Wyatt Johnston has at least one point in 32 of his last 42 games, including each of his last eleven home games. I’m going to bank on him continuing that trend while the Stars put a stop to the Blues’ winning streak.
Pick: DraftKings Same Game Parlay priced at -105 - Stars on the moneyline AND Wyatt Johnston to record at least one point (take up to -110)
