On Jan. 17, 24-year-old Norwegian midfielder Conrad Wallem joined St. Louis City SC as the club’s newest member. Wallem comes on loan from SK Slavia Prague of the Czech First League. The deal with his home club runs through the end of the 2025 MLS season with an option to buy. Wallem will occupy an international roster slot.

Wallem has 44 career goals, including five for Slavia Prague last season. He had a two-goal performance against Jablonec. He also contributed two assists during last year’s Europa Cup play. However, the young, versatile midfielder saw his play time diminish recently, hence the move to MLS.

β€œA versatile player like Conrad, who can play on both sides of the field, will make us a better team,” said St. Louis City SC’s sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel. β€œHe is a talented player that was coveted by multiple teams in Europe because of his ability to play multiple positions. A dynamic player who can play wingback or winger will give us options within the team. He is a threat high up on the field and can be an asset to the defensive side of the ball.”

Wallem was born in TΓΈnsberg, Norway on June 9, 2000. He figures to be one of the club’s starting midfielders when St. Louis City SC’s season begins on Feb. 22.
