The future is bright, as Cardinals prized pitching prospect Liam Doyle showed on Sunday.
In the Futures Game at the outset of the All-Star week festivities in Philadelphia, Doyle pitched a scoreless inning while flashing the tantalizing stuff that has him ranked as the top pitching prospect and the No. 2 prospect in the Cardinals farm system, according to MLB Pipeline.
Doyle ramped his fastball as high as 99.2 mph and recorded four whiffs in his inning of work. Though Doyle battled with command a bit, walking two batters, he was flashed the quality of his arsenal with a pair of strikeouts -- one on a splitter, another on a heater.

The 22-year-old southpaw also recorded a pickoff to help navigate his shutout frame.

Doyle also said he's been keeping tabs on the big league Cardinals this season, eager for the opportunity to eventually join what they've got cooking at the MLB level in 2026.
"What they're doing with that team right now, and all the young talent that they have, they're going to be damn good for a long time," Doyle said. "And I'm excited about it."
