Four Blues to Represent Their Countries at 2025 IIHF World Championship (St Louis Blues)

The St. Louis Blues will have a strong international presence at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, as four members of the organization are set to compete in the tournament, which runs from May 9–25 in Stockholm, Sweden, and Herning, Denmark.

Goaltender Jordan Binnington and captain Brayden Schenn will represent Team Canada, while forward Alexandre Texier will suit up for France and prospect Dalibor Dvorsky joins Slovakia’s roster.

Binnington, 31, is coming off a bounce-back campaign with the Blues, finishing the regular season with a 28-22-5 record, a 2.69 goals-against average, a .900 save percentage, and three shutouts. He also became the franchise’s all-time wins leader with his 152nd career victory in November.

The Richmond Hill native recently represented Canada at the 2024 NHL Four Nations Face-Off, posting a 3-1-0 record with a .907 save percentage and a 2.37 goals-against average. Add that to his 6-2-0 record at the 2024 World Championship, and Binnington has been consistently solid in international play.

Known for his big-game mentality, he brings playoff-tested experience to a Canadian squad with gold-medal aspirations. He’ll be counted on to provide stability in net, particularly as games tighten in the medal round.

Schenn, 33, logged a full 82-game season with the Blues, producing 50 points (18 goals, 32 assists) and 61 penalty minutes. The physical two-way center has represented Canada eight times, bringing a combination of grit, leadership, and scoring depth. His versatility—capable of playing center or wing, contributing on both special teams, and winning key faceoffs—makes him an ideal veteran piece for a deep Canadian lineup. With over 1,000 NHL games under his belt, Schenn’s experience and edge will be valuable in tight-checking elimination games.

Texier, 25, notched 11 points in 31 games during his first season in St. Louis. The French forward brings speed, creativity, and a high motor to a developing French national team. Having represented France in numerous international events, Texier is expected to be a key offensive driver and leader for his team. His ability to attack off the rush and play with pace could give France an edge against similarly skilled opponents.

Dvorsky, 19, had an excellent rookie season in the AHL, finishing with 45 points in 61 games and earning an All-Star selection. A dynamic offensive threat, Dvorsky will be one of the youngest players in the tournament but also one of Slovakia’s most skilled. After captaining their World Junior team earlier this year, he’ll bring offensive flair, power-play upside, and growing confidence to a Slovak roster aiming to surprise.

The tournament begins Friday, May 9, with group-stage games split between Sweden and Denmark.
